Pick up 3 pieces

PU3P is an international environmental care project, looking at the impact of Marine litter. You can find out more by visiting the PU3P blog (see our link in  the sidebar).  This report was written by Dani and Iona.  Dani also took the photos.

Ms Mackay gave us and all the green swans in the school a fabulous lesson on the litter and pick up three pieces.
Ms Mackay gave us a sheet to tick of all the pieces of litter she found at Scapa beech.

This is only part of the rubbish that Ms Mackay brought in. We need to start being careful of what we do with our rubbish.
Ms Mackay even found a poppy ring from the Royal oak that must of been carried away.
Not many animals can see this small pieces of litter. Also the smalle the junk is the more a animal can swallow.
You wouldn't really guess what this is but it is a helium balloon. It has been let go and floated up so high it burst. It is most likely to fall in the sea and wit the straggly bits at the end it looks more like jelly fish. This will trick turtles and other sea creatures in to thinking it is a jelly fish.

So all we ask is that you take only 3 or 4 minutes of your time to help the environment and pick up 3 pieces. Remember to use reusable bags and bottles. Never forget to recycle. Always double check what you are putting in the bin or in recycling it could be washed and used again.

Visit to KGS Concerning the Rights of the Child

On Monday 17th May all the P7s in Orkney visited KGS to improve our awareness of the rights of children. Not only was it good to visit the school we will be attending in August, but also we met some of the first year pupils. We were divided into groups and were assigned one first year pupil as our leader. Each group then received a different task concerning rights of the child. This involved much discussion and co-operation.

It was a great day and we even had lunch in the new cafeteria.
