We have been learning about animals in the arctic and how they can adapt to the icy cold conditions. We carried out a 'blubber mitten' experiment to find out how effective blubber is in keeping the animals warm in the freezing cold water. Our prediction was that the lard, used as blubber, would help to keep our hands warm in the cold water. We were right! Here are some of the pictures:

Welcome to this years P7 class blog!
On Friday 4th Sept, we had a visit from the Dynamic Earth team as part of the 2015 Science Festival. They came to talk to us about fossil fish finding in Orkney and Caithness. We learned about Hugh Miller - a fossil detective and the long-vanished Lake Orcadie!
It was fascinating to find out what the area around us looked like millionsof years ago. Many thanks to the Dynamic Earth team for a very interesting afternoon.
